Can you even start a music playlist without including some new alt-J? Hence the 0's, 1's, ∆.

Why is it that summer always seems the be the season to incredible new musical releases? All of the summer anthems. All of the feels. All of the melodies. I am in love already. I am constantly surprised when I open my Spotify and see all the new music from some of my favorites: James Vincent McMorrow, Lorde, Bleachers, etc. I'd say that my summer jams are off to a good start!

Road trips to the beach, working out at the gym, whatever I'm doing, these are songs I'm listening to. Take a listen to these songs. If you're not a fan of one song, hit next. If you love a song, hit repeat! In fact, if you like some of these songs, I encourage you to keep listening, or perhaps make a playlist of your own to listen to while you commute to work, head to the grocery store or just relax at home. Sit back, listen, and enjoy!

Thanksgiving is here and everyone needs a good playlist for the trip home, at least I know I do! Yesterday I grabbed a cup of coffee and drove back to the Chicago suburbs and I had my music bumping the whole time. I'm psyched for this playlist because it includes some amazing songs. Songs I would play anywhere. Even at Grandma and Grandpa's (if you're grandparents like The Weeknd, you have the coolest grandparents ever!). You may be familiar with some current hits that are already being played all over the radio, but I hope I can introduce you to some new goodies as well.

If you like the tunes, leave a comment. Or if you think I need to check out a new song - please, give me some recommendations!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Føund Music: Romance Edition

"Hold onto this day. Keep inside your heart such faith that we'll walk along the path God made."
Matthew Mole

Tommy and I are both single.

There are no special ladies in our lives. No major love interests. We really just dig making dinners for one. We travel and make road trips alone (when we don't go together). We treat ourselves to boxes of chocolate. And we both love solo long walks on the beach with bags full of potato chips. It's okay to be jealous. We're both in a really good place in our lives. Single-hood has never looked so sexy.

The fact that I am incredibly single doesn't take away from the fact that I am a hardcore hopeless romantic. I long for walks at sunset. Picnics in the park. Spontaneous road trips. Camping in the mountains. Going to concerts. Cooking together. Spending time with my best friend. I actually have a notebook I have started collecting romantic date ideas. I may be a dork, so what.

So how do I cope with being single and not living out my inner romantic?

I watch a lot of romantic comedies, read a lot of love stories, encourage relationships around me, watch old people be so cute, and listen to my 'Love Playlist.' This list is all of my favorite love songs - from classic Elton John to newer artists like Andrew Belle. This playlist is more about the purest form of romance and love, than solely mushy gushy lovey dovey crap.

The first song, "Duet." Sweet Mary and Joseph I am in love with this song. It talks about a married couple who deal with empty love, but know each other so passionately and promise to be committed to one another. The playlist ends with Ingrid Michaelson's version of "Can't Help Falling in Love." It's beautiful.

Ah! Now I'm in a romantic mood. Please excuse me while I go take myself out on a date.
