Never in a million years did I think going out into nature could be as restorative as what I experienced last week. I am not talking about going to a park in the city kind of nature. I am talking about the full-blown no cell service, gas station 100 miles away, I can hear the ants crawling on that leaf kind of nature.
I think that just goes to show you how used to living in the city I have become. My cell phone is always attached to my fingertips. I sit in front of a computer screen for a vast majority of the day. Spotify is always playing in the background, creating a soundtrack to my life. Everything I could ever possibly need within a 5-10 minute walk of my apartment. It becomes way too easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of city life.
My cousin put it best - being in the city makes you feel small in something big while being out in nature makes you feel like a part of something big. I honestly cannot say the last time I had such a humbling experience. Pacific Northwest - thank you. Thank you for an amazing nine days. Thank you for your beauty. Thank you for helping me realizing what life is and what life should be.
