Where I'm going is better than where I come from.
I'm a firm believer that the best is yet to come. The past is simply moments that influence where we are now, but the present is where we determine what's next.
In high school I had no idea the life I wanted. I was looking for answers and I felt I had nothing directing me towards one certain path. It's that classic high school story - go through some hard times, be a little rebellious, finally discover who you are. I put myself in different friend groups, I participated in choir, sports, and the arts - and nothing really left me feeling satisfied. I was extremely against education. I wasn't good at it. I didn't like going to class. I was a classic high school kid with insecurities.
That's where I was. With the coming of age and the freedom of life on our own, past circumstances should never keep us from moving forward. College has given me the opportunity to discover. To wander. To receive revelation. With maturity we slowly step away from times that were dominated by insecurities. It's in moments of acceptance that we finally learn to embrace becoming who we are meant to be.
I firmly believe humans are to spread encouragement and love every single day. So to the people with low self-image and confidence. You are beautiful. With the orphan yearning to be desired. You are worth it. To the people of the world. You are loved.
As I look towards the future, I'm excited to step forward in confidence.
