I woke up this morning, you know... and the sun was shining, and it was nice, and all that type of stuff. And the first thing, I saw you, and, uh, I said, "Boy, this is gonna be one terrific day, so you better live it up, because tomorrow you'll be nothing." You see? And I almost was.
--Jim Stark, Rebel Without a Cause
James Dean. Rebel Without a Cause. East of Eden. Giant. While he had a limited filmography, his impact was incredible. Even today, in 2015, James Dean is a man that every woman wants to be with and every man wants to be. Swagger. Class. Style. Bravado. This man is an icon.
I won't deny it, I love fashion and style. It's always been something that I have been interested in. What I love even more is the wave and trends in which fashion moves. Baggy pants and beanies. Bright neon colors and wind breakers. Color blocking and slim fitting suits. Which each decade comes a new iconic look. Reflecting on some of these looks may prove to be rather painful, but they bring memories of times passed.
However, as decades pass, there are always a few men that stick out. That go down in history for being timeless and classic. Cary Grant. Dean Martin. Steve McQueen. James Dean. These men have a way with themselves. They carry themselves with such confidence and poise. They could be wearing a canvas sack and still look slick given their demeanor. So as fads come and go - skinny jeans, holy jeans, jorts and cargo pants - you can take notes from these men and know that you'll never go out of style.
James Dean may have starred in Rebel Without a Cause. But he has gone on to be one of the most influential men in cinematic history. So in my opinion, Dean was clearly a rebel with a cause.
